Trudi Musgrave - Head Coach
I first started tennis when I was five years old, going to coaching once a week. My parents introduced me to tennis, as they were players themselves. I played my first tournament at the age of eight years old. At age thirteen I was picked in the Under 14 NSW State Team. I won the Under 14 National Singles title that same year. I was then asked to train three times a week with the State Squad in Sydney.
The following year I was picked to represent Australia in the Under 16 World Youth Cup and also be apart of the Australian Under 16 touring team. We spent two months in Asia and Europe.
In 1994 I won the Australian Open Junior Singles Title at age 16. I was picked and travelled in the Australian Under 18 Touring Team that same year and the following year. We travelled the world for four months each year.
In 1995 I was a Finalist in the Wimbledon Junior Doubles and a Semi Finalist in the US Open Junior Singles.
In Seniors I played 13 Australian Opens, six French Opens, six Wimbledons and four US Opens. My best results in these were:
- 3rd Round Australian Open and US Open Doubles
- Quarterfinals French Open Doubles
- Quarterfinals Australian Open Mixed Doubles (once with partner Wayne Arthurs and again with Paul Hanley).
My best World Ranking in Singles was 200 and 60 in Doubles. I have won three ITF Singles Titles and over 40 ITF Doubles Titles.
Throughout my career I’ve competed against a lot of top players such as: Kim Clijsters, Lindsay Davenport, Martina Navratalova, Martina Hingis, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Amelie Mauresmo, Anna Kournikova, Sam Stosur, Alicia Molik, Casey Dellacqua, Elena Dementieva, Justine Henin and Nadia Petrova.
I am very passionate about my sport and very excited to be able to pass on my knowledge and experience to help and promote the game of tennis in Cessnock and the surrounding regions.
Adam Clare - Tennis Director
My name is Adam Clare I am 37 years old. I have been involved in Tennis for 10 years. I originally worked at The University Of Newcastle’s Forum Sports and Aquatic Centre as Customer Service Manager.
I have had many years of administration and customer service experience. I have completed my Fitness Leader's course and have completed my Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
I started to travel with Trudi Musgrave in 2001 and then from 2003 to 2007 as her Fitness Manager and Coach. My role was to prepare Trudi both physically and mentally for the challenges ahead. I also used to book all her hotels and arrange hotel pick-ups and the day to day operations on the tour. We had a wonderful time and we travelled to some wonderful places in the world.
Both Trudi and I are very well travelled and have experienced a lot in the world of professional tennis and we know what it takes to enjoy the sport at a basic level and also at the highest level.
We are proud to be able to pass on our knowledge and experience to everybody and we want to give back to the sport that has given us so much in life.
